Utility Assistance

 

The Salvation Army provides year-round energy assistance.  Energy assistance is available based on specific community need and community resources.  Eligible applicants may receive assistance for natural gas, electric power, home heating/cooling equipment repair, weatherization, wood, fuel oil and propane gas.   

The Salvation Army and Black Hills Energy have partnered together to provide and distribute funds collected from Black Hills customers and matched by Black Hills Energy.

Black Hills Cares is an energy assistance program that is available based on specific community need and community resources.  Eligible applicants may receive energy assistance for natural gas, home heating/cooling equipment repair and reconnections to gas utilities. To inquire about your eligibility and nearest Salvation Army location please call one of the numbers below.

Those who qualify for assistance must have received a heating service shut off notice, be of age 60 or older, or suffer from a medical disability.  The Salvation Army will also take the applicants' payment history into consideration.
