The Salvation Army Red Kettle Rally to Benefit Human Needs Fund

The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Rally will host a family, fun event along with the annual Red Kettle Run on Saturday, Oct. 21, at Werner Park, located at 126th Street and Highway 370 in Papillion. Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. A short welcome before the 5K run and mission walk will begin at 9 a.m.
The goal of this event is to bring awareness to The Salvation Army’s Human Needs Fund, which supports crucial programs that serve seven major needs in our Omaha community. These needs are: food, housing, youth development, material assistance, behavioral health, older adult services and anti-human trafficking. In addition to the 5K, a mission walk will take place inside the ballpark where participants can visit stations highlighting Salvation Army services that help meet those needs. Activities available at the park will be open for children to enjoy, including running the bases, a Family Fun Zone with inflatable bounce houses, face painting and basketball.

Admission is $10 or 10 nonperishable food items. Admission for children under 10 is free. Register online at

At the event, attendees will receive their own little red kettle to collect donations in during The Salvation Army Tree of Lights campaign. Participants are encouraged to drop off collected funds on any Saturday in December at any of the red kettle locations in the Omaha metro.

The 2017 Red Kettle Rally: Family Fun and the Red Kettle Run is sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska, Pinnacle Bank and Prudential. Our media sponsors are KMTV and Channel 94.1.
