Jim Sells, program director, and Lisa Sagherian, assistant program director, chaperoned young people involved in North Corps who are seeking a college experience as they spent an exciting week on the road last month.

What a great trip this was! Jim Sells, program director, and Lisa Sagherian, assistant program director, took one of the North Corps vans last month, packed it with a group of high school students and away they went – touring a number of historic black colleges and other major universities in the South for a full week of memories and life-changing experiences.

The group of 10 made stops in Lexington, Ky.; Atlanta, Ga.; New Orleans, La. and Fayetteville, Ark. They jam-packed non-stop school visits to historic educational institutions including the University of Kentucky, Morehouse College, Spelman College, Clark Atlanta University, Xavier University of Louisiana,

Dillard University, Auburn University, Louisiana State University, Grambling State, and the University of Arkansas. The young people that attended were focused on learning more about each school and came away with a new sense of opportunity. You could tell with each stop that these youth became even more interested and asked more questions. It wasn’t unusual to hear comments such as, "I never thought of leaving Omaha for school, but now I definitely want to go and do something more challenging."

Jim and Lisa plan to make this an annual trip with high school students, as it definitely was a powerful excursion that had a tremendous and positive impact on these youth.
