Adopt A Family Radiothon Expected to Help More than 2,000 Families

Through the continued partnership of The Salvation Army and Star 104.5, hundreds of families in the metro will have an opportunity to be “adopted” for the holidays during the annual Adopt A Family Radiothon on Thursday, Nov. 30, and Friday, Dec. 1.

The Adopt A Family Radiothon will be broadcast live from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday from the Westroads Mall Center Court. Those interested in adopting a family may call the Adopt A Family hotline, 402-898-6050, during the broadcast.

Donors choosing to adopt must make three commitments: provide a toy or clothing for each child, provide a gift coupon for a family holiday meal, and coordinate a time to deliver gifts to their assigned family by Dec. 23. For more details on the commitments of adopting a family, visit here.

This year, over 2,000 families qualified for assistance through the Adopt A Family program. More than 32,000 families have been adopted by local supporters since the program began 17 years ago.

More than 200 volunteers have signed up to help with Adopt A Family. Volunteers will staff the phone bank to match donors with families, process application information, address envelopes and prepare mail.
