May 9 D.J.'s Hero Awards Luncheon
Join us for the D.J.'s Hero Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, May 9, at 11:45 a.m. at CenturyLink Center Omaha, featuring keynote speaker Jewel.
Eight high school seniors now look forward to a brighter future with the help of a $10,000 scholarship named for D.J. Sokol,
son of David and Peggy Sokol. D.J. battled cancer until his death at
age 18, showing courage in his struggle and concern for other teens.

Jewel is an acclaimed American singer, songwriter, actress, poet, painter and philanthropist. Overcoming homelessness and poverty as a child, Jewel rose to stardom, selling over 27 million albums and receiving four Grammy nominations. She is also an accomplished writer, publishing two poetry collections including one on the New York Times bestseller list. Her most recent book is Never Broken, an inspirational memoir that explores her unconventional upbringing and extraordinary life. Jewel has reinvested in the global community by starting her own charitable initiative Project Clean Water to bring clean water to those in poverty.
